Nigeria Plunged into Darkness As National Grid Fails Once Again
A Nationwide blackout has struck Nigeria once more due to the collapse of the national grid.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) released a statement on its official social media account, stating that the power outage experienced in its franchise areas is a result of a system failure from the national grid at 11:21 hours on Sunday.
The AEDC assured its customers that they are working with relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilized. This incident comes after previous constraints in gas supply to electricity generation companies led to a drop in electricity supply in parts of the country.
Moreso, Nigeria has already experienced multiple nationwide blackouts in 2023 on September 14, 19, and December 11. Just two days ago, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, appealed to Nigerians for patience regarding the challenges facing the country’s power sector.
