Christians Silent Amidst Aggressive Campaigns by ‘VeryDarkMan’ – A Call to Defend the Church

Defending the Faith: Exposing the Blackmail Campaign Against Nigerian Churches

The ongoing blackmail campaign targeting churches in Nigeria, led by individuals such as Martins Vincent Otse, also known as ‘VeryDarkMan,’ has ignited deep concerns among the Christian community. These malicious attacks, aimed at undermining the credibility of spiritual leaders and church practices, are not only damaging but threaten the unity of Christians in Nigeria.

The troubling aspect of this situation is the silence of the Christian body, leaving spiritual leaders like the late Senior Prophet TB Joshua and Prophet Jeremiah Omoto vulnerable to false accusations. For instance, Otse’s claims about the sale of “miracle water” by Prophet Omoto led to an unnecessary NAFDAC investigation, even though the water came from a legitimate source, Globod Table Water. Despite the findings, the agency went ahead with a misleading publication, further harming the church’s reputation.

This raises an important question: Would these individuals have the courage to launch similar attacks against the spiritual practices of other religions, such as the use of Zam-Zam water in Islam?

The discrediting of spiritual materials is not just an attack on individual churches, but an assault on religious practices that hold deep meaning for millions. Across denominations, items like holy water, oil, and aprons are essential for healing and deliverance. Their significance mirrors practices like the Roman Catholic use of communion bread, which, through consecration, becomes the body of Christ.

Christians must recognize that the assault on these practices is part of a broader strategy to weaken Christianity in Nigeria. It’s time for the Christian community to break its silence and take a united stand against those seeking to tarnish the faith. The Nigerian government must also be called upon to act decisively against these blackmailers, protecting religious freedom and ensuring that the body of Christ remains strong.

An injury to one church is an injury to all—now is the time for Christians to defend their faith and unity in the face of these attacks.
