FRSC Blames Speeding As Anambra Crash Kills Two
Two persons were on Friday killed in a road accident at Azia junction, Ihiala, by Owerri-Ihiala Expressway, Anambra State.
City Round learnt that the lone accident involving an unidentified commercial driver of a Mercedes truck with registration number: XD131NSHU343RE occurred at about 9:30 am.
An eyewitness said the driver, who was at top speed, lost control and rammed the truck into a big gutter by the roadside, leading to the crash.
Confirming the accident, the acting Sector Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Margaret Onabe, said two people, comprising two male adults, were involved in the crash.
Onabe said, “The cause of the crash was attributed to speeding and loss of control. According to eyewitnesses, the driver was speeding, lost control, and rammed into a big gutter by the roadside.
“Two male adults (the driver and his conductor) were killed.”
She noted that the dead victims were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Mortuary, Ihiala, by good Samaritans before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team.
